work for chivalrous and noble purposes. Needless to say
that this dialogue should be carried, at all levels, as the only
and optimum way towards resolving conflicts and settling
disputes for all political, economic and social problems. I
will strive to achieve constructive dialogue among the most
important global leaders in the fields of peace, democracy
and human rights all over the world to defend all people,
combat all forms of oppression and despotism, and work
to promote the common goals through activating dialogue
capable of promoting genuine change.
At the personal level, I have experienced the feeling of
being deprived of freedom and basic human rights since I
was imprisoned 20 years ago as a war prisoner when the
Iraqi forces invaded Kuwait. Back then, I was at my early
youth in which I confronted this destructive struggle domi-
nated by ignorance; ignorance that is considered the major
enemy of peace.
Fahad Al-Salem Center has been established to sup-
port communities and individuals who undergo repression,
persecution, and vulnerability, help them to attain their basic
rights since they are confronting intellectual suppression.
Moreover, they are not allowed to express their opinion in
the fields of policy, economy and education and in many
other fields so even their dreams of living with dignity have
been demolished and today they have thirst for knowledge.
