ISLAM AND PHILOSOPHY
If the simple definition of philosophy is the love of wis-
dom, then Islam is the first supporter of embracing philoso-
phy and acting upon it, since it considers wisdom one of the
priorities of divine graces on man. This was indicated in the
Holy Quran in Verse No. (269) in Surat Al-Baqara:
"He gives wisdom to whom He wills, and whoever has
been given wisdom has certainly been given much good.
And none will remember except those of understanding".

If philosophy was searching for an answer to significant
questions regarding the origin of human existence, intimate
nature, and conclusion by the act of thought, consideration
and meditation, Islam would not take the attitude of hostil-
ity and opposition since it urges for prudence and orders for
thinking and reasoning as a means of knowledge and a way
