forgotten at the time Europe was steeping in its ignorance
and living in a fatal barbarism. Furthermore, it revived, in-
terpreted, and granted the Greek Philosophy into the world,
clear and revised.
The followers of Islam used to grant their prisoners
freedom if any of them taught an illiterate and their Holy
Prophet said:"Seek knowledge even in China". Therefore,
the Holy Quran urges for knowledge in many of its Verses.
However, the leaders and politicians within Islamic com-
munity were not at the level required to put theory into prac-
tice, yet hope still exists that Islamic awakening will guide
the community to where it should be, and will be capable of
shedding the light on the concept of freedom in Islam which
symbolizes the commitment, complies with common sense,
calling for respect and recognition of the other entity that
has its freedom and beliefs, and emancipates the mind from
superstition and the domination of suspicions and illusions
by resorting to the holy revelation that came down to the
heart of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
All the above takes place within the context of combin-
ing the contemporary Arab thought with the wealthy foun-
tains of Islam that call for liberating man from tyranny and
injustice, emancipating him from slavery and preserving
him in the bosom of morality accompanied by the details
of daily behavior whether within the family or society since
